The First Indian Saint was canonized

It was an incredible experience for us to participate in the canonization of St. Alphonsa, the first Saint from India in Rome. We were really blessed to be the witnesses to this historical and blessed moment on 12th October. Forty thousand pilgrims from India gathered for the Holy Mass at 10 am during which the canonization took place. In his homily the Holy Father Benedict said: “her short life was marked with extreme physical and spiritual suffering. This exceptional woman was convinced that her cross was by the very means of reaching the heavenly banquet prepared for her by the Father. May we imitate her in shouldering our own crosses so as to join her one day in paradise!”
