I have a lot to tell you today. Two important events for us Fathers have followed each other in quick succession.
Our Movement Centre in Kuttur, close to the medium sized city of Trichur in Kerala was blessed on 8 March 2008. It is the first such Centre in India. It is surrounded by an large, wooded and impressive bit of ground, and has beenĀ planned in such a way that there is place for a community of four Fathers, and twelve double rooms for conferences of various kinds. In view of the events that can take place there, the dining room, conference room and chapel are much bigger.
We who are in the Tertianship in Bangalore travelled by night train with a representation from the Novitiate so that we could be on site already in the morning. This would enable us to help a bit with the final preparations.
The celebration took place at 3 p.m. According to the usual custom the Bishop was expected, greeted with garlands and led to the site. He cut the ribbon at the main entrance, the auxiliary bishop opened the doors, and the celebration of the Eucharist according to the Syro-Malabar rite could begin. During the Eucharist the altar was solemnly anointed and blessed, and at the end of Mass the whole house was blessed. In his sermon the Bishop quoted and commented on a saying of Fr Kentenich. Priests have to be chosen by God, formed by the Spirit and sent out by him.
At the end of the ceremonial part all who took part were invited for a snack - I reckon there were about 500 guests present.
In the last home page I mistakenly reported that a large cross would be put up at the entrance to the property. I now see that the cross captured the attention of the visitors from the wall at the back of the chapel. I would like to thank very sincerely for the donations that we received for the cross from the readers of this home page.
