The College offers a variety of possibilities:
1. Source of vocation: The College can become a source of vocation to our community. Last year though we had only 12 boys one of them joined in our seminary and other one joined in the diocesan seminary.
2. Scope for the movement work: At present many of the students are members of boy’s and girl’s youth that operate outside the college. We have plans to start the boy’s and girl’s groups in the college. We have also plan to conduct seminars for the parents of the students and win them for our movement work. We extend the students and staff all spiritual and counseling assistance. An Annual Retreat is a part of the curriculum.
3. Education as our Apostolate: The students who are studying here and their parents are convinced of the fact that we run this college not for any financial benefit and they know that we aim at something more than teaching the students to pass an examination. Dedication from the part of the management and commitment from the part of the teachers make our college outstanding in our education method. Though as an educational institute we are strict in discipline, we give a lot of freedom to the students and in most of the cases we take heed of their opinions. There is a good relationship between the management and the students. Our principle of freedom with responsibility is practiced here.
4. Our Social commitment: We give free education and discount on the fees for all the students who come from poor families. This college itself can be developed as our answer to the social concern for the development of the poor, if we can continue this principle. All of us are aware of the fact that the Indian social set up expects a certain level of social support to the people in some fields. If it is in the field of education it is a big legacy that we do for the future generation.
5. Holistic approach to education: We use a holistic approach to education in our campus. We have to keep in mind that many communities are concerned mainly with the financial profit rather than the development of the students. Educational institutes are seen as money making centers. There lies our specialty because our main concern is the development of the students. We do not abandon or withdraw any student because he or she is not able to pay the fees.
Fr. Joy Puthussery, the Vice Principal, visits all the families of the students irrespective of their religion. This is something unusual and neither the families nor the students expected that the authority of an educational institute would visit them. The aim is to understand the students with his or her individual background. The information that Fr. Joy gathered from his visit to the families is shared with the teachers if it is necessary for them to understand the students.
Some of the families of the students have different problems. Fr. Joy gives counseling and directions to the experts. Some of the parents who are addicted to alcohol were taken to the rehabilitation centers. Renewal of the families also can take place through our relationship with students. As the society develops without any limits, the teachers are not in a position to understand the students well. This holistic approach to education is beneficial to the students as well as to the parents.
