For all the children it was a new experience

The Americans had invited all the mothers and children of the village to take part in an outing. They went to the southern tip of the country, which is two to three hours by bus. For all the children and for most of the mothers it was a new experience - the large and comfortable private bus, the boat trip to the temple on the rock, playing with the waves on the beach. For me the picnic was a particularly lovely experience. While the children sat all over the place in the bus, and even played with one another in between, so that we could clearly see who had made friends outside their house group, at lunch it was quite clear where each child belonged. There was no need for directions, all immediately sat in a circle around their mother.

Since the beginning of the Children's Village and the blessing of the first house a year ago, we havenot only had difficulties finding suitable mothers, but also to fill the village with children. Now it seems we have managed to break through the resistance. Thirty children have been booked in for the coming school year from June. We will then qualify for recognition as a Children's Village that lives a true family life. This will make it possible for us to accept babies and infants who are being offered for adoption. On the whole a very promising development.
