Historical priestly ordination
God appointed eight young men as his priests on the 27th October in Madurai. The Schoenstatt Fathers with immense joy give thanks to Blessed Mother for choosing these eight “Dynamic Instruments” for her mission.
This is for the first time in the history of the Indian Schoenstatt Fathers community such a large number of deacons receives the priestly ordination at a time.
Dr. Peter Fernando, the Archbishop of Madurai conferred the ordination which was witnessed by more than two thousand faithful consisting of the families, relatives and friends of the candidates.
About hundred priests concelebrated. The bishop was welcomed by the waiting faithful with a huge garland.
The ordination ceremony began with the traditional arathi. The newly ordained priests remembered with gratitude all those who accompanied them on their long way to priesthood.
The First Mass of the new priests took place in the following two days in their respective parishes.
