Fr. Anbuthurai, the Rector of the Madurai Campus reports from Madurai and lets us partake in their life streams.
The construction of the compound wall around our thirteen acres campus, which commenced on the 15th August, is already half way through. It is expected to be finished by November. Now we could have a safe campus with less intrusion in the form of cattle, thieves or trespassers.
Our twenty minor seminarians spent around three days with the children of the Sunrise Children’s Village in Tirunelveli. They did some manual work, prayed with the children, did a cultural evening and also joined them for a one day outing to a nearby waterfall. The moving element of the whole program was the affectionate bond which grew between the students and the children, so much so that the children gave a tearful farewell to our students.
Our minor seminarians were without enough Bible. One of our local benefactors brought ten copies of the Bible for them and this way supported our formation.
One of the biggest events of our Madurai campus this year is the ordination. Arch bishop of Madurai Rt. Rev. Peter Fernando ordains them as priests on the 27th of October. Since it is a big event, all the Brothers and Fathers have started the preparation already in August. Choir practices are going on, decoration works have started and various committees are working.
Our seminarians get the chance to learn English from persons of English speaking countries. Fr. Andrew Pastore, a Schoenstatt Father from England spent two weeks with our students to teach English using media technology. In October, Ruston, a young man from the States is teaching English using music & dialogue.
Kentenich Kalloori, the house of the philosophers celebrated the 10th anniversary of its blessing. There is a lot to thank our Blessed Mother which we expressed in a solemn Eucharist. We had a cultural evening which showed the multiple talents of the seminarians.
A solemn novena celebration was held in advance to the covenant day. The days were blessed with active participation of many pilgrims.
The seminarians of the Madurai campus worked a day to clean the surroundings and also the public roads. In this way they wanted to be examples and also to contribute to the good of the society.
