128th fasting and prayer fiesta

Every second Saturday the children of Mary gather at the Shrine to spend time with her. Bro. Thomas reports from Madurai of the events of 14th July. The prayer fiesta began at 10.00 am with adoring the Eucharistic Lord. About 75 lay people and 46 seminarians attended. The adoration is accompanied by the reciting of the glorious mysteries of the most holy rosary. To each mystery there was a reflection given by Bro. Thomas.

Bro. Thomas, in his introductory note talked about the actions of Holy Spirit in life. He gave ‘the life of Mother Mary’ as an example. The change in her life after she was filled with the Holy Spirit was narrated. She led a life of service, life of sacrifice instead of leading an ordinary life. In the same way, her devotees who are filled with the Holy Spirit are expected to lead an extraordinary life.

During the adoration, time was given to go for confession. Frs. Pushparaj, Anbu and Paul Panamkulam heard the confession who later joined the Eucharist to mark the end of the day of fasting and prayer. Then a sumptuous fish curry meal was served to the participants and they went home with their Spirit filled to work as apostles in their communities. The fasting and prayer service was a collaborative work of the Students of Philosophy, Minor Seminary and the Movement leaders.

The next Fasting and Prayer Service will be on August 11 with the theme: JESUS IS OUR REDEEMER.
