BANGALORE: “Mother Mary, through the shrine open doors for the Living Word!” - was the guideword of the Covenant Feast 2007 in Bangalore. The Schoenstatt Family in Bangalore gathered at the festival tent at the shrine on 18th of October to celebrate the Covenant. People from surrounding parishes were invited for the Eucharistic celebration, which was held at 5.00 pm. Around 1500 worshipers showed up. Fr. Andrew Pastor from England was the main celebrant of the Holy Eucharist which was concelebrated by about 10 other priests. Fr Joy Madathumpedy, the rector of Mary Matha Schoenstatt Bhavan, Aloor preached. (The sermon will be published a little later on this site.)
Soon after the Mass, the procession set about to the shrine with burning candles in the hands and praying rosaries. The Blessed Mother moved in a special chariot prepared for her and was carried by her beloved children. The celebration ended with the solemn benediction and the renewal of the covenant.
To add flavour to the celebration the whole premise was decorated with colourful lights and traditional festive umbrellas. There was also a final firework. The students of the Schoenstatt Fathers together with the Schoenstatt Sisters of Mary, the Schoenstatt Youth and the Pilgrim Mother coordinators worked hard to make the covenant day a day of blessing.
