August 30th is the family feast day of the international Schoenstatt Fathers’ community. The community in Bangalore celebrated the Sion Feast in a joyful atmosphere.
On the eve, the Sion flag was hoisted by Fr. Paulose. The shrine was decorated exceptionally well. After supper, there were different and creative cultural programmes.
The feast day began with the solemn morning prayer. There was a procession in the morning in the house reciting the Holy Rosary and singing the Marian hymns.
The climax of the celebration was the Eucharist. There were many Indian cultural elements included in the holy worship. Fr Paulose, the homilist demanded the students of keeping the active and enthusiastic Sion spirit. In the end of the celebration, the worshiping community moved in to the shrine in a procession for the final blessing. Mary and Fr Kentenich were garlanded.
The celebration ended with the renewal of the Covenant of Love.
There were a series of games such as volley ball, cricket and football conducted between different groups among the students. The Sion 2007 Trophy was awarded to the winners. A tree was planted in the remembrance of the Sion Year. A manuscript was published that had come out as a result of this year’s Father Study (Image of priesthood according to Fr Kentenich).
