Independence Day Celebration in Bangalore

There was a grand celebration on August 15 in the community of the Schoenstatt Fathers in Bangalore to mark the 60th independence of India.

The celebration started with the solemn Eucharistic presided by Fr Paulose and concelebrated by Fr Lourdu Stephen. Bro David Chandran delivered the sermon. After the liturgical celebration there was the hoisting of the national flag. Fr Paulose gave an inspiring message: “Arise, awake, till you achieve your goal”.

In the evening there was a cultural program that was initiated and prepared by a group of seminarians. The program attracted about 300 people from and around Bangalore. The chief guest of the evening was Mr. Geelini, a councilor of the local government. Students from different schools and colleges were invited to perform their talents. They contributed patriotic and traditional dances, drama and music. Two blind men who played instrumental music made the evening remarkable.

This celebration had been a golden opportunity to speak about Schoenstatt. More and more people come to know about the shrine. The shrine became alive on the feast of the Assumption. The program gives the poor children who live around our community a chance to perform on the stage. And the seminarians find the fund for the celebration from the local benefactors.
