We hope that by the grace of our Mother Thrice Admirable you are all fine in your part of the world. We the novices are doing well here in Bangalore. As we get ready to move to our regency places, we would like to write to you about the activities of our novitiate towards the end of the closed year.
After lengthy spiritual preparations we elected Brother Bibin Vadakkethottiyil the Course Leader in a prayerful atmosphere during the vigil Mass on the 1st of January 2007. We began our New Year celebrations with an hour of adoration, thanking the Lord for the graces received in the year 2006 and beseeching His graces for the coming year. Then, at 11.45 PM we symbolically burnt the effigy of the old man and welcomed the New Year with fireworks.
With the intention of knowing more about our course brothers and their kith and kin, we visited the families of the brothers from the 2nd of January to the 10th of January 2007. It was a nice experience for each one of us. It helped us to know more about the family background of the brothers-the culture in which they were born and brought up. We were warmly welcomed at every house and dined with the family members.
This was an initiative of Fr.Wilson, Our Novice Master, with the intention bringing together all the brothers who had their novitiate in Kentenich Vidyaniketan. We were privileged to host this mega event. It provided us the opportunity to come to know about the course lives and ideals of the previous courses prior to our own course ideal search. We were also intellectually and spiritually nourished through the classes and the Liturgical events, respectively. The 70th birthday celebration of our previous course master Fr. Peter Locher added colour to the Inter Meet Fest.
With a renewed vigor and spirit, we started our search for the course ideal on the Covenant day of January 2007. It was a time of heated discussions and debates. Each one of us actively came out with our own arguments and valid points. After three weeks filled with tension we finally found our identity as a course, “Sion Streams for the New World”. Our course ideal was officially announced by provincial Father on the Delegation day in the Shrine. We are extremely happy to be known by the name of Sion Streams, in the Sion Year.
It was our wish to consecrate our course on the feast day of our Course patron, St. Joseph. In preparation to the course consecration we recited ten days of the novena of St. Joseph. In the midst of the solemn Eucharist presided over by our Novice Master we gave ourselves to the Lord, symbolically offering the self understanding, course prayer, course hymn and a tree. This was an unforgettable day for all of us. We believe that our Mother and educator will transform us into the real streams of the Sion for the creation of the New World.
We celebrated it very creatively, making it a usual event in our novitiate. March 19th was the feast day of Bros. Bibin, Binoi and Joebai and we made an it an unforgettable one in their lives.
Now we are busy preparing ourselves for the Easter and Regency in the midst of the busy schedule of presenting the papers on the writings of our Father and Founder. We have taken a number of resolutions as individuals and community to inwardly prepare us for the resurrection of our Lord. We hope that this Easter will be of a special significance for us at the end of our closed novitiate. We will start moving to our regency places with a lot of expectations from the day after Easter. We ask your prayerful support for the success of our regency and novitiate. We assure you that our prayers will accompany you on your way especially during this Easter Season.
