“We climb up to you, Holy Father!”
“We climb up to you Holy Father!” – shouting this slogan, from the beginning of Lent till the White Sunday, thousands of pilgrims march to the St. Thomas Shrine at Malayattoor professing their faith that he gave to the forefathers.
It is the holy tradition of the Schoenstatt Youth in Kerala to march once a year to St. Thomas Shrine, the Father of Faith of the Christians in Kerala.
This year the Schoenstatt Youth went in four groups in different days during Holy Week. The trip up to the valley by bus is a wonderful experience and the boys have a lot of fun. Almost one hour we climbed the mountain to reach the Shrine. On the way to the Shrine we prayed the Stations of the Cross. The youth have been preparing for this pilgrimage from the beginning of the Lent and they started with little sacrifices that they offered to St. Thomas on the hilltop. It is tradition that we climb in the night.
