Sion (Streams)
It was on February 15th 1967 that Fr. Kentenich transferred the name of "Sion" to the Schoenstatt Fathers. Having been entrusted this name had the most formative influence on the community and became the foundation of its unity and its mission concept. For to 40th anniversary, February 15, 2007, Fr. Heinrich Walter, our general superior, invited everybody, to celebrate a special Sion year.
This invitation found its echo also in India. The course of the novices in Bangalore with the ideal of "Sion Streams" felt that they really correspond to this invitation and, consequently, are very much identified with it. And this is why they represent themselves in a special banner in our shrine in Bangalore in connection with this year.
The whole community in Bangalore -- at the moment consisting actually of 4 communities: the fathers, the theologians, tertianship and novitiate -- decided to celebrate on certain Saturdays Eucharist together with topic and meditation of Sion. So it happened on April 24 conducted by the "Sion streams".
Even our young people in our Minor Seminaries react to this invitation. At the entrance of our house in Aloor, for instance, everyone is welcomed by a respective representation.
In spite of special times and special strivings also the daily work has to go on. The rectirs of the fathers community -- not those of our study houses -- met with the delegation Council on April 21st in Aloor. The Council worked for two more days at the same place being confronted by some difficult decisions; partly finances, of course.
That the counselors may see how to spend money meaningfully the basketball court -- the big sport in this house -- received a new foundation just at this time. May the boys have a lot of fun!
