Onam celebration of the youth
The Schoenstatt Youth in and around Aloor celebrated ONAM, the colorful national festival of Kerala (on 14th September). Though we were challenged by strong rainfall, the different competitions for the youth were carried out as planned.
The celebration was inaugurated by Fr. Sherin K. Many of our SYM Children took part in the Onam-Songs’ Competition.
Marathon-Race was another attraction for many; it was inaugurated by Fr. Paul P. Many people from the neighboring parishes attended.
For all those who did not participate in the Marathon, we had arranged our traditional games: Pot-Breaking, Zadaki-Zudaki, Filling Water in Bottles and Ball-Passing. The culmination of the competition was our traditional Tug of War.
CYM from Potta parish won the Ever Rolling Trophy for the year 2008-09. It was with much pleasure that King Maveli addressed the group and distributed the prizes.
